Karinne runs the distribution operations with President Lee Beasley. Born and raised in the South of France, she moved to Los Angeles in 1991. Behr has been in film distribution, production and financing for over 29 years. Passionate about the industry, she has established strong ties with bankers, bond companies, and high profile entertainment attorneys and distributors all over the world.
Ms. Behr was President of Bauer Martinez Studios from 1999-2008. She negotiated more than 23 film loans and was actively involved in the negotiations of foreign and domestic pre-sell distribution agreements and ran the day to day operation of the foreign sales division. In 2009, she became President of International Distribution of Pangea Media Group where was brought in to rebrand and head their foreign sales division and manage their film catalog which includes over 1000 titles. Ms. Behr is an executive producer of the many films, notably: “The Flock” starring Richard Gere and Claire Danes, “I Could Never be your Woman” starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd, “Land of the Blind” with Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland and the critically acclaimed “Modigliani” starring Andy Garcia and Elsa Zylberstein.
Lee M Beasley is an experienced media banker with more than 30 years extensive experience of providing senior debt finance to the media sector around Asia together with funding of both local and worldwide independent film and television projects. Lee was born and educated in London and in 1986 joined the Royal Bank of Scotland in the UK where he enjoyed almost 20 years service, the last 12 of which were focused on the worldwide media sector.
During this time, the Bank became one of the leading players in the European Independent Entertainment Sector. In 2006, Lee joined Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong as Head, Media and Entertainment and during his time there, the Bank financed the major Asian productions “Curse of the Golden Flower” and John Woo’s epic production “The Battle of Red Cliff”. The Bank was also the world’s single largest financier of the Australian Producer Offset.
Lee is a regular speaker at industry events and attends all of the key film and television markets around the world. During his career, Lee has provided funding for over 250 film and television projects and built a solid network of key industry contacts around the globe. Projects financed range from straightforward local small/medium sized films to multi million, multi territory, multi-party co-productions.
From 1988 through 1990, Philippe Martinez was President of the famous Odeon Theater in Marseilles, one of the largest playhouses in Europe. At the end of 1990, at the age of 22, he decided to focus on a career as a feature film producer and moved to the United States. Since 1999, when Philippe launched Bauer Martinez Studios, he has produced 52 films, 12 of which he directed.
Martinez has directed 12 feature films: Citizen Verdict (Armand Assante), Wake of Death (Jean Claude Van Damme), The Chaos Experiment (Val Kilmer), VIKTOR (Gerard Depardieu/Elizabeth Hurley), General Commander (Steven Seagal) five films in the Mister Mayfair series (Armand Assante, Steven Bauer), Father Christmas is Back (Elizabeth Hurley, John Cleese, Kelsey Grammer, Nathalie Cox), One Year Off (Jeff Fahey, Nathalie Cox, Chad Michael Collins), and most recently, A Week in Paradise (Malin Ackerman, Connie Nielsen, Philip Winchester). Grandpa’s Got a Girlfriend is coming up next.
Martinez has just recently produced A Week in Paradise, Assailant, One Year Off, Father Christmas is Back, My Dad’s Christmas Date, and The York Witches Society (a classic horror). He is currently in pre-production on several projects, including: City Girls (a coming home love story), Grandpa’s Got a Girlfriend (a dysfunctional family comedy) Robinson Crusoe (an island adventure) and the next instalment of Miss Willoughby (a family friendly mystery series).
